Hey guys, I have a question, I have a 1980 corolla and a 1988 celica convertible with a 3sge, Can I swap the motor from my convertible into my corolla, and if I can what will it take to complete it. Thanks guys any help will be greatly appreciated.

i think it's possible to do this swap however the engine would have to be modified slightly to be used in a FR application. the intake manifold would need to be swapped for one that draws air from the front of the engine as opposed to a rear-engine-facing manifold like in a FF. also the 3sge would need to be mated with a compatible transmission from a rear engine car like the toyota altezza or another FR with the 3sge in it. the shift linkages would also need to be either modified or purchased along with the transmission

what is the chassis code on your 1980 corolla?
a t50 transmission should work for your swap, but you'll need a custom bellhousing to mate the t50 to the 3sge. they are around, but i can remember. the intake manifold needs to be modded or changed, but i'm not sure about the oil pan. depending on the chassis code of your corolla, parts made for the AE86 that people have made and used for this type of swap can be used, so look over any write ups you can find about people doing this swap into AE86. There should be one or two on club4ag, and I know a guy in utah is doing a 3sgte swap into a SR5 Corolla and tracking his progress on driftutah.com. the swap is in the Drift Cars section titled "Mr. Miyagi"

differ idea, that came with what a 3tc? you know that there is a aplace that you can buy pistons to make that engine 7.5:1 or 13:1 for compression and they even make intakes so you can turn it in to fuel injection www.brdracing.com . you can put on individual carbs and run 300 hp all motor or run a grapefruit sized turbo with 400+ hp. thats just me. i dont have any room to talk cause i think that i'm gonna put ing a 4ac for now in my 1982 wagon and build the 3tc, and retransplant it back in the wagon.
