AE 82(FX16) easy and best swaps?

I am a newbie here and would like advice for the most painless and cost effective transplant.

That said, should I get rid of the auto tranny also?

I'd like to be between 170-210 hp in a 1 ton car.

I would like advice on swaps including ECU's, jumpers, etc

Thanks.

AE86

4agze has 165 hp, upgraded to a front mount intercooler should make 170, silvertop 4age 20v makes 160, blacktop 4age 20v makes 165 as well

are you looking for n/a power or forced induction, because a 4ag(z)(t)e making those numbers will behave completely different.

170-210 on n/a will require big cams, and itll idle like shit, and be a bitch to drive on the street.

170-210 on a gze is quite doable. front mount, overboost s/c pulley, headers, exhaust, etc will put you well into your goal. or a gze, slap on a turbo manifold and a small turbo and your set.

as for ecu's, that depends on your budget, and so does the rest of the swaps...

why dont you tell us a budget, then we could recommend something to suit your needs.

as for simplicity of the swap, they all pretty much go the same way...

I am shooting for the 2 grand range

That said, should I convert to a 5 sp from the auto?

Can the auto handle the extra power?

I would like to start the swap in Aug.

Is the 4 agze a plug and play?

As far as I can tell the gze is the best bang for the buck($900-$1300) Plus, $450.00 install.

Thanks in advance.

definately convert to a 5spd, theres no point trying to extract alot of power with a slushbox on a small displacement engine. i converted my ae82 to 5spd, and it wasnt hard at all. you can use all the parts you need for a ae92 (since theyre usually easier to find). its all bolt in, except for you have to drill a hole in your firewall (for the clutch m.cylinder), but thats easy.

4agze's are really teh best bang for teh buck, but try to get a late model one (ae101, or kouki ae92) as they make significantly more power (theyll be map sensored, not afm). anothert thing to remember is gear box selection, try to get one with an lsd, and if you do get one with a lsd, make sure you get the correct driveshafts, because your stock ones wont work.

gze is bolt in, but its not plug and play, you need to do wiring.
