European Union 4A-C engine stops when warm.

Hi every one,
My old Corolla AE82 from 84 with the 4A-C engine stops when warm and idling. I can't find what is wrong with it. It is very annoying to restart the engine at every stoplight. I have noticed that it does stop even before you have actually stopped the car. It stops when you are decreasing the speed and have the clutch pedal down. I tried to get it to stop last night out at the driveway. I had it idling for 20 minutes and it didn't stop. The rpm was a bit nervous when pressing/depressing the brakes several times though. Please give me some great advices about this problem.

increase your idle speed until the problem goes away. I have the same problem.

I believe the actual problem is leaky vacuum lines, but increasing the idle works well enough for me

Thank you for the answer. I was thinking of that some days ago. But in my point of view it is not the correct solution. You will still have the fault with the engine and you will get a higher fuel consumption and problems to pass the emission checks once a year.
I have been thinking of the vacuum lines too. The brakeservo use some vacuum to work. When I was testing to see what's wrong I noticed that the rpm got nervous when I was using the brake pedal.

oh no, definitely not the correct solution. but the car will at least work until you can find the real problem. (no emissions checks in MI, yay!)

I believe the carb float level being off could have something to do with this.

Hi,
I have been thinking of tthe vacuum lines, the carb or if there could be some electrical fault. The light befind the meters goes on and off all the time. I haven't found any connection with those lights with the ignition system yet. I'll better try to find out next week when I am back home again.
