Charging system problems with fx16

I had the charge light and brake light both come on a couple weeks ago and after some searching I came to the conclusion that it was probably time to change the original alternator (150k miles).

Got the new one installed, but now the battery is not charging and the charge light/brake light did not come on this time.
Is there a circuit breaker I need to reset after installing a new alternator?
If so, where is it?
If not, any suggestions?
The battery is only 6 months old.

UPDATE...

Took the car into a shop to have the alternator and battery tested.
Alternator was putting out the correct power and the battery was load tested and passed fine.

Drove the car back home, let it run for a couple hours with the rear defog and lights on and sure enough, it died within 2 hours and the battery has no juice left.

Any ideas? Bad ground perhaps?
