Australia Toyota 4A Trans

Hey there

I have a buggy that has a 4A SOHC Carbureted engine and 5 speed gearbox out of a 1986 corolla. I want to take it to an auto trans.

Basically the front end(motor, gear box, running gear out of the corolla) has been rear mounted in a tube frame. There is very little room around the gearbox and engine, so trying to get a trans that will shoe-horn straight in.

Can anyone advise what transmission models will fit this motor.

Are all 4A series motors the same mount pattern and output shaft size?

I'd add a pic of the buggy and the rear engine but cant see how to add a photo to this topic.

Hey mate - I am not 100% sure but I have a 4alc engine which i think is very similar to yours.

The engine manual seems to indicate that the auto tranny and manual tranny are interchangeable.

Some wreckers are good at this advice so maybe ask around a few.
