The fact that's an SR5 should steer you away from it, try buying a GTS from the start or you will be disappointed.

well, it depends on what your gonna be doing with it. but if your only gonna be driving it to work and back. then the SR-5 is just fine.

but if you want a fast, cheap drifter. then the GT-S is the way to go. the SR-5 is not as nice/fast as the GT-S

but i dont know what your gonna be doing with it. so hopefully you can make the right move

haha, if your driving it just as a beater then go ahead, sr5 isnt that bad to just drive around. however if you plan on tuning it....please get the gts. i have an sr5 im doing a complete 20v swap into right now and im basically pulling everything out of the car to do it and replacing it with parts that werent on the car (including the fuel tank). so... tune-gts beat around- either/or

so buying an SR5 would mean that u basically have to tear everything out and build everything from scratch?

this guy's sellin me a 84 SR5 hatchback for about 2000 and i was wondering how different are the models from before and after 85

2000? wow that body had better be in awsome condition and the motor better run smooth as hell. 2 grand is steep for the sr5. you could easily find a gts for that much if you look around enough. only reason i would jump on that....its a hatchback (love them). but then again, the coupe's are lighter

and the differences before and after 85... body detailing, maybe a little modification to the motor but not much, and some things differed between the gts models and sr5 models but i mean, not too much

engine wise everything is about 2 years old except for the motor which was just rebuilt so it has about 70,000 miles on it, i've been in it and it runs pretty good, the clutch is super like but the accel pedal is heavy which is kinda weird, but yeah, the gt-s's are hard to find

the other cool thing about the guy is that he has hook ups with a toyota dealer or somethin like and he can get me engine's and all the other parts cheaper cuz i kinda knew that 2000 was kinda a lot

oh, and it doesnt have a catalytic converter so it sounds kinda like a truck XD

I don't think you can be much more wrong.....

for the ae86....

the gts had a 4age, 16V, EFI engine (twin cam), higher compression.... the interior is different, the fuel tank/pump/lines are different, the rear end is different, the rear has disc brakes, an LSD option, and all were 5 speeds

the sr5 had a 4ac, single cam 8V, carb motor, less boulstered seats, smaller rear end, and rear drum brakes, no lsd rearend availability, and they came as both an at and a 5 speed....

that all being said, I just picked up an 85 SR5 coupe, AT.... but the price was right

obviously the sr5 and gts
had different motors. when i said there were no differences i meant the 16v didnt change much over the years and the carb'd 1.5 didnt change much over the years. sorry if i worded it wrong earlier
