86 4ALC Overheating

Ive got a CS-X seca, 86 model with the 4ALC Engine.

Recently it had the carby off and the vacuum lines were put back on wrong - this has been fixed up now though.

The car is overheating and I was wondering what other peoples experience has been with this - in Gregorys service manuals theres quite a bit that can cause it, vacuum lines the vacuum switches etc

With the thermostat out of the car theres no overheating, but as soon as it is back in the temperature goes to caution as soon as i drive up the street.

I have checked the cooling fan - its on constantly so in the next few days i'll be getting another thermoswitch to try. - As i mentioned earlier ive checked all the vacuum lines, but im getting another thermovacuum port as well just to rule that out.

Blown head gaskets - my dad pushed air through the cylinders using a valve designed for going into the spark plug ports and there was no bubbling in the radiator.

Water pump is brand new, so it shouldnt be the issue
Radiator - Doesnt seem to have any blocks in the cores

If anyone has ideas of anything else to check it would be great because I've almost gone through everything I think would be causing the problem.

Thanks guys

What's a "CS-X seca"? What country are you from? When did the overheating begin? Before the carb / water pump work? Or was this a broken down car that you recently purchased and are trying to make roadworthy?

Hey - i managed to get it sorted out, long story short:
-Starter motor shorted a while back, burnt some wires into the loom.
-Managed to burn the wires to the cooling fan - got a new fan, re-did the wiring and that was OK.
-Even with the fan OK, radiator operating properly the car still overheated
-Having the carb off and the vacuum lines wrong seem to have killed the vacuum switch near the thermostat
-Went to my local wrecker and got a new thermostat housing including the part with the vacuum tree and put it in.

Finally, the car is operating fine and I did the timing as well just as a bit of certainty.

As for the question about CS-X I am from Australia and CS-X is the hatchback model, the long version.

Thanks for though - hopefully others can use what I've wrote in this thread as a bit of help
