I dont know much about megasquirt but is it possible to run 87 octane with megasquirt and ITB's?

maybe you should specify what engine your talking about? long story short, with tuning, you can do alot of things...

my mistake I forgot this isn't specifically for 4age's .. so ya 4age with 16v or 20v

the short answer is... no, you can't..... the 20v is high compression....

if you're running a low comp block and itb's, sure you can run low octane gas....

it doesn't have to do with whether it has itb's or not... it's more dependant upon the compression of the motor...

however... even with high compression you could mess with the timing and still run low octane gas.... however you will suffer in performance if you do that....

ya exactly, itb's merely get air into the engine, having to run higher octane because of them, would be likely having to run higher octance because you put a CAI on a car.

because the 20V has compressions ranging from 10.5-11:1, this really isn't practical, because as toyotaspeed90 said, youd have to be sooooo conservative on the timing to avoid knocking, it would be pointless.
