4A-GE (20-valve)

Hey Everyone, im new to the whole gts concept and was actually curious about a full swap. and if possible, id really appreciate if i had help with my 3 questions. those being..

1) Are all 4A-GE (20-valve) engines (both the Silver-Top and the Black-Top) only 5-Speed 'FWD' Manual Transmission and not 'RWD'?

and

2) is it Possible to do a full swap on an AE-86 Corolla GT-S with these motors?

and finally..

3) If possible, what is the process and procedure to do so. (If there is a guide available out there, id love if i was provided with a link)

that is all. thank you for your time and feedback. i hope to be an 86 owner real soon.

1. yea, the motors came from the front wheel drive levin, never a rwd car (this also means that if you come across the glorious 6spd manual that came with some of them.. sorry but it wont fit in the ae86.)
2. yes, the t50 transmission in the ae86 will bolt right up since the blocks are both 4A blocks (but you need to install a pilot bearing).
3. check club4ag.com and look around... they give you pretty much all you need to know and its easy to understand

if its an sr5 your gonna need new fuel lines and a fuel pump. the ae86 transmission will bolt up so you can sell the 5spd from the one you get... your gonna need to do a little bit of wiring work with the harness for the ae86. also, before you drop it in you need to decide if you want to run a dli ignition and/or coolant line kit. if not, you need to bend or cut the firewall to allow the lines to fit and the dizzy to fit. few more things... but you'll find those out later

there also quite expensive...and if you have some technical abilitys, you could setup an MS system and run EDIS or COP for the price. but yes, they do look nice.

also, he doesnt have the engine yet. and depending on the silvertop, it may be a c56 or a c52.

AE86

i was also thinking of the 20v swap, but after looking into all the stuff like dizzy re-locator and water-line kit, because i didnt want to do any firewall cutting to make it look "original", but if you dont mind doing some cutting than theres no problem, dizzy re-location i have seen for around 600-750$ and the waterline re-location kit is 650-800$, heres a link to both

Waterlines

Dizzy re-locator

All-in-all, unless you want a real clean swap and have the money i wouldnt suggest getting this stuff, for the money you spend on this and a 20v, you can buy a 4AGZE and Turbo it, unless you dont miond the firewall cuts

yeah they are, but you can make alot more power turboed than supercharged, but its easier to do on a 4AGZE than a 4AGE because its already designed to read boost

hey guys, first of all, thankx for all the input. relle appreciate it to be honest, im not to proud to say that im not soo bright abt the technical stuff needed to pull of a 4A-GE swap into an AE86 lol but thankx for making things make sense secondly, after lookin aroun i found this deal and sounds too good to pass off on and had a few questions. first of all this is a black top full swap with the following included...A/C Compressor
Alternator
Complete Block
Distributor
ECU (computer)
Un-Cut Harness to ECU
Intake Manifold
Complete Head
Power Steering Pump
5-Speed FWD Manual Transmission
Starter
Throttle Body
Exhaust Manifold
Fuel Rail
Injectors
All Clutch components with Flywheel Assembled to the Engine
Pulleys

soo for starters, if i wanted to replace all the above.. i would need to look into all the stuff like dizzy re-locator and water-line kit which i dont mind replacing. soo after replacing and installing the water line kit and dizzy re-locator what else is needed to make it a 'clean & workable swap'? and furthur more, (this relle bugs me) the transmission is a FWD and the corolla is a RWD.. sooo if i want to use the new FWD tranny and replace it with the RWD tranny, what needs to be done. any input would be appreciated. thank you.

Cant be done, you need a T50, and honestly the kits arent worth it, heres a link on how to put the RWD water pump on the 20v, you dont need a water line re-locator for this, but you do need someone with some aluminum welding skills

http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=1012

And just cut a hole and weld up the fire wall for the dizzy

hi hit

Hi I have hit a Toyota GT-S 16 FX (the engine is the 4A-GE and non not all engines
4A-GE are 20 valves, as I say I have a 16 toyota fx 4A-GE is 16 valves and 20 left a little later with the mr-2 if you can make a change of course because it carries the same media transmission fits well the process is not as it does not eh explored the topic but the biggest problem would be the same as putting CRUSE control coses but such is the least of your car if you want everything top of the 20v silver top
