idle drop when a/c kicks on

i have a '79 corolla with a 3tc swap and it runs pretty well but a little rich and when i turn on the air conditioning the idle drops and sometimes kills the car. any info would really be appreciated.

a slight rpm drop is normal but to stall the car seems like its putting alot of lag on it(maybe the a/c compressor seizing), or maybe its draining alot of power from it electrically speaking... which could be an alternator issue if its not making enough of a voltage. just throwing stuff out there

that is actually really helpful because the a/c is making a clicking sound. i didn't think of that. thanks.
