Ae86 Corolla questions

Hey guys, I've been looking for an Ae86 corolla because I love the look of them and I've always wanted to restore one.
Is the Ae86 a good car to restore or are there other Toyota's alike the Ae86?
And how much do you think it would cost me roughly to fix one up?
Thanks for the help

well from my experience so far they are a good car to restore. I am in the process of restoring my car too. (you may look at my posts about ITB's or my ae86 needs help)

The money is going to be alot!!! My rear end alone stands 500. And of all the research i did on this car, i think it is DEFINATELY worth while. As long as you have your time, money and devotion i think it will be great.

I am just a highschooler taking his first car to the limits(i mean by restoring it to be a better running car than it is right now) so i will have my time, devotion, and i am just working for money, getting all the big things out of the way.

Well i know my help isn't much, but good luck with your car, should post some pics some time!!!!!
Goodluck!!!!

thanks very much!
I'm also in highschool too, and I've always loved this car
the only thing I'm worried about is being able to find parts for this car because of it's age.
is there a lot of performance or tuning options for this car? or are any other toyota's good for options?

well if you go on ebay you can find alot of miscellanious things. Performance wise just google things, like i just type in a part, go to the site, then they will have drop windows with the make, year, model, and engine size, then they just tell you what parts they have for it. You can find alot of things, just do a bit of searching.

As for the other toyotas, im not sure, me and my friend are building this car up, i buy parts and he helps me install them since i dont know much about cars.

Hope my help was somewhat usefull.

And another site i have been told about on this forum site is www.club4ag.com

Sadly my old 84 Corolla SR5 has probably given up the ghost for good and I may have to part it out. at 312.000kms it's been a great little beast.

based on my experience of "restoring" a ae92 you picked the right car lol ae92's they dont make shit for it ! we had to body work the hell outta it all by hand, no new panels were used cause they simply dont exist... ae92 aside i just picked myself up a ae86 & i cant stop looking at all the shit you can buy for these cars ! its amazing! you can buy anything & everything for them, so no worries man if your doing the work yourself its going to save you thousands in the end !
