ok, will typeIII tailights fit on a car that came stock with typeI's?

-type 1's are square where as type 3's have the little reverse light on the bottom that faces the license plate stick out a little

If you have a coupe. there is modification needed. You need to cut a portion of the back, to make the tail lights clear and you have to bondo a section(to clear the gap), when you put the license plate holder. I suggest finding JDM Zenki coupe tails or smoking your tail lights. Here's the JDM tail lights on my car:
