just got my 86. question.

hey guys im the proud owner of an 86 coupe, its very clean and in decent condition mechanically wise. now i just got a quick question as im new to this car. im looking for a good way to get it to 200 horse for a reliable DD that can hang with other vehicles. 200 in a thousand pound car must fly!!! i mostly want 175-200 horse so i can at least follow my buddies 08 cooper S. so i figure with 175-200 horse i can easily keep up. so anything you guys can tell me would be much appreciated. i was considering turbo as a fast way to make some power. ive only turbo'd nissans in my day. whats it gonna take to get my rolla to those power numbers. thanks.

toda built formula atlantic 20v!!!!

o, but if your looking for a 1000 lb car you might want to consider tossing a ton of money into carbon fiber and strip the whole interior. lowest ive heard of one of these getting is to 1600 with no gas or driver

more like 2500 lbs lol (1 ton 1000kilo)

carbon fiber frame/doors/everything, no windows, ceramic engine (or electric) even shocks, special light weight polymers/plastics/rubbers maybe 1000 lbs. ceramic engines have really high efficency, so you'd be saving lots of gas too LOL

Getting a different car that already makes 200hp would the the easiest way.

To make this car fun, you should get a limited slip and then just go drive it.

Afterwards, if you have the budget for it, you can do a GZE swap to get around 170 reliable hp.

buying a different car is the easy way out. get creative with it, i mean... you could always drop a sr20(nissan) or f20c(honda s2k) in it. its amazing what motors they have put in these cars. hop onto club4ag.com and check it out, they are more than willing to help you get parts over there too

My point is that the car doesn't really NEED 200hp to be fun. It's fun the way it is, as long as your footwork is well sorted.

FYI I do have 200+hp in my ae86. But I've had a few others before with much less hp which were no less fun.

I'll say it again, the easiest, most reliable way to 200hp is to buy a different car. If you feel you really need 200hp in a car, the Corolla is not your best choice.
