fx16 w/4age front bearing replace??

My fx16 1987 with the 4age needs a bearing. Where should I get one and how much do they usually cost

What all needs to be done to replace it? Ive replaced bearings in my 300zx but its not fwd.

Is the bearing just one unit, or does it have an outer and inner?

Wheel bearings require a press to install, and a way to undo and re-torque the 30mm axle nut.

The easiest way might be to take the knuckle off and drop it at a machine shop and have them r&r the bearing for you.

Ok, my friend has a press, and my other friend has a shop. I might drop it off at the shop, take out the axle nut and then take the whole assembly to my friends house with the press....

can you use a vice to press it in, or does it need to be a press?

Thanks

They also require a press and some know-how to remove from the knuckle.

The wheel has no play in it, it just makes TONS of noise. I dont have money to get a shop to replace it, so I have to do it myself or get help from my friends.

My buddy owns a shop and does a lot of work like this, just maintinece work, im waiting on what he thinks about doing it at his shop.

Thanks

Tire noise is often confused with bearing noise, so first things first, you might want to do a front-rear tire rotation and make sure the noise doesn't move to the back.

Then change the bearing

they are cheap new tires(prime wells?)

but at first I thought it was the tires, if you drive it, you cant hear that its just from the front left, it sounds like all 4. but i rode in the back passenger seat and it only comes from that one tire area... i will try rotating themm sometime soon.

Thanks

You can ALWAYS get the bearings off the hubs. It just takes a grinder with a zip disc. Put the hub in a vise. Notch the inner race (without nicking the hub) and then hit it with a big hammer and chisel.
