Alright so, im pretty new to the whole corolla thing. Ive owned a few hondas and i must say, so far honda ftw. But the question im asking is this, Yesterday i bought a blue 86 corolla coupe sr5 rwd, and this thing has no balls at all. I mean i know its supposed to be slow and everything because it just has the carbed engine but it has a hard time even reving to 5k. The fastest i can get it to go is like 60 also.
what are some things that might be wrong with it, or some things that i could look into buying to make it perform a little better?

Well, don't go around saying "hondas ftw" on a toyota site and expect to get help :P. Anyways, you have a 4ac motor in it, carb'd single cam, I have the same motor in my car, it takes a while but it gets up to 70. There isn't much in the line of performance for it, Paradise Racing makes a power package of sorts which is a cam and weber progressive carb, adds some power, but thats about all you can do, maybe a custom exhaust if your good a welding and pipe bending. I'm going to tell you what everyone else will, swap a 4age in it.

don't ask me about the swap, Im going v8. If you search here and google you will find a million people who have done it, just search "4age swap" or something down those lines. If you don't have a lot of mechanical experience with transplants and and what not I wouldn't suggest it yourself.

First problem you bought an SR5, second corollas are slow as hell, and the third problem is whoever owned it before you probubly beat the balls out of it thinking "ohhhh AE86, pro drifta"
My corolla is an SR5 and it went no problem straight to 6k 180klm/h, which also supports the idea of the car being beaten the hell out of...
Also the 4AC is not a performance engine so you bought the wrong car to be speeding around in unless you plan to swap the engine for something faster....

Hey man, I beat a smart car in my corolla from a red light, it has a little potential
