3tC Head removal? (i dropped some crap down the cylinder )
Hey folks, ive got a 3TC engine (ill start a new thread with details), anyways, while removing spark plugs, i found out that cylinder 2 has a shattered sparkplug (the ceramicparts) i gingerly removed 3 chunks of ceramic with needlenose pliers. I then removed the spark plug, and saw that a small piece,
approx 1/16" thick x 1/8" wide x 1/4" long was stuck to the wall, i tried to remove it, but it fell down the hole where the spark plug was.
Originally i want to fill this cylinder with oil, and then turn the motor to hopefully squirt oil and the ceramic piece everywhere, ir ealize after this, i still would never know if the ceramic is there or not.
So I believe the best thing for me to do is to remove the head and clean it out.
my questions:
1. How BIG of a job is this?
2. Are there any online schematics or walkthroughs to do this?
3. While i have the head off, what else should i do? this engine isnt mint, i have not had it running either.
im making another thread including pics of the engine and the vehicle it is in.

Dude, this is what happens when my 3TC eat a carb check ball.............. pull the head! Ill post more on this else where. just fired NEW crap rebuild 4 hours ago. (sorry, cant get pics to post)
Hi, I would try a vacuum method using a shop or house vac with a small rubber hose or tube to reduce the OD od vac hose to fit in the spark plug hole. This way you can check the vac bag to see if you got the piece out. If the cylinder's intake valve is closed you could try to use compressed air to blow it out by the exhaust valve or if you can see the piece on the piston you can try to use a stick or wire with a dap of grease on the end to get it to stick to the end. Removing a head isn't that simple and involves parts like gaskets and seals and draining the coolant removing manifolds and possibly the water pump , etc. Carl H.
