My 1987 Corolla

Hey all, This is my recently acquired 1987 Corolla. So far I like it. Its kinda peppy. It more fun to boot around in becuase its slow lol. Anywhoo here are the pics.

So far I've replace the front struts and halved the bump stops....Still need to do the e-brake cable, fenders and windshield.

Enjoy

-Andre

Yours is in better shape than my one owner that sat for the last 6 years. How many miles on it? I've got 114 K on a 1988 FX. Same engine 4A but different color sticker though mines blue.

It may have a lot of miles but that is a fine example of a corolla. Got any interior pics coming?

Thanks Dwebb99,

Updated work with pics...

The front fenders have been replaced as well as both rear E-brake cables. While I had had everything apart I took advantage of the opportunity to replace the drums and shoes. Also I had pair of brand new motomaster tires on steelies in the basement so they replaced the snows that were on the front. Managed to pick up a pair of steelies with Potenzas for the rear for $20. Replacing the 175/70R13's with 195/60R14's has definately improved the handling characteristics of this car.

Results

I checked the compression on the motor yesterday. Sparkplugs had alot of buildup. Dry was 150-155-140-160 and wet was 160-160-152-162. My reason for conducting the test was to determine what was the cause of oil consumption and the plume coming from the tailpipe with fast idle on cold starts. The numbers lead me to assume that the valve seals is what is causing my problem. The PCV Valve is also operating correctly. The motor has 298,000 kms. Thanks.

Thanks guys.

I do plan on keeping it blue.

I believe the colour is medium blue metallic. I've just got to weld up one 2"x1" hole in the drivers rocker panel. Then butt match the fenders and blend the 3/4's and the bottoms of the doors...and all the prep inbetween.

Unhappy Balls!

Did a leakdown test without the guage. Alot of pressure in the exhaust with the valves on cyl. #3 closed . Guess this means I'll bes doing headwork before I get to the body...

As much as I wouls really enjoy the silvertop, I would like the 6speed Lsd more, but neither are in the cards for me currently. Its too much work right now I dont feel like converting to FI. Keeping it Simple.
