'81 corolla SR5 3TC qustions...

So a couple years ago, I bought myself a 1981 Rolla SR5 3 door liftback with the 3TC. Comes with the 1.8L 1800cc 4 cyl. manual. I've noticed that it likes to slip outta 4th recently and can't find an new tranny ANYWHERE. It's the TE72 model, which I've only ever seen 2 others of. I've also heard rumors that the AE86 and the TE72 parts are identical from the frame up... Can anyone give me some insight? I love this car and don't wanna do a swap yet, but I can't find this damn tranny....

AE86 trans as far as i know is the same, all you have to do is put the bellhousing off yours on it

I got lucky and found a guy with the 3TC tranny from an 82 and a spare parts complete engine. He sold his rolla and had them as spares. WOOT!
