My 1986 Corolla SR5 is RWD, but it's a manual transmission.

I am certain, but not 100% certain, that ALL Corollas produced until 1984 were RWD, and then from 1984-1987 the only RWD Corollas were the AE86 chassis. The AE86 chassis were offered in two trim levels, SR5 1984-1987, and GTS 1985-1987.

Figure out what the transmission code is that you are looking for and start calling junkyards and salvage yards in your local area. It's possible that you could use an automatic transmission from something other than a Corolla, like a Celica or something. Toyota (like any other manufacture) often times used the same components in several cars, so by looking for the right type of trans, you may make your search easier.

Or just bite the bullet and do a manual swap and enjoy working that third pedal and rowing gears!
