New 87 Corolla owner!

Hey everyone,

I just bought 87 Corolla in pretty good shape and I had a couple questions. First is there anything that could be done to the stock engine to better the performance? And last, if I were to consider tuning the car, what kind of engine would be best suited for it and where could I find them? I heard that 20v's are pretty sweet but I don't know... Thanks for the help =)

There's not much you can do with your current engine... other than dropping it off a very large cliff there's no other way to make it go fast.
Your best option is to not spend a cent on it, relish in its frugality and put the money you're saving on gas away to go buy a 4AGE 20 valve silvertop.
The conversion is ludicrously easy, and the performance gain is, erm, quite noticeable
Its also nice to have an extra 2500rpm to play with
