Australia Toyota Corolla stalling when breaking

Hi Everyone

I have a 1986 toyota Corolla. Recently I've been finding that every time I slow down at the traffic lights my car stalls. If I brake suddenly this happens straight away. If I brake slowly the car will sputter first then stall.
What could be causing this problem?

Thanks

sounds alot like the vacuum hose for your break booster is either un plugged or has a hole in it. try replacing it cause i have had a few of them do that on me before. hope this helps good luck

First try pushing the brake while at idle. If the idle speed changes and stays funky with the brake depressed, you may indeed have a failed brake booster.

What is your idle speed? Sometimes setting idle speed too low will have this effect as well.
