84 corolla dlx?

I been looking in toyotas since I need a reliable commuter vehicle. There is a local 84 deluxe 4 door going for $1000 with 53k original miles.

Car is in good condition, few small aesthetic problems but otherwise well running, clean title.. good paint and engine.

Is it a good deal? I have no idea since KBB doesn't go back that far.

If you take it to a mechanic and have him check it out (if you have not done so already), then yes, it would be a great deal. If you would buy it remember at 60,000 or earlier to have the valve clearance checked and/or adjusted. Good luck and please let us know what happens

Well I have a pretty good idea of what to look for in a used car so I will be inspecting the car very closely for any problems in the body, steering, suspension and engine. I'm just wondering... what the price range is for these vehicles?

And I'm assuming the use carburetors, not fuel injection?

I've done valve lash adjustments on other vehicles before so I could probably do that myself.

That's good. Price range of $1000 or less is about right. Yes it does have a carb. One more thing, make sure to change the timing belt, since it would be about due, and since the car has not bee used much.
