I'm using AE86 spindles on my KP61.
As for why, lighter, less rotational unsprung weight is the main reason. That hub and the hardware required to bolt the rotor to it seems like a lot of unnecessary weight. If a couple of pounds can be removed from the front wheels that's a big plus! I figured as much as people mod AE86's it'd be a standard thing and the part numbers would be available.
Thanks for asking!
Maybe not made for, but has anyone checked the setup from say a late 80's van? Or maybe a pickup. I believe both came with a one piece rotor/hub.
After checking I guess they didn't. I can't believe all rwd toyotas had front hubs.

i know some aussie guys have switched to s13 nissan front suspension, hubs, brakes, on their corollas. not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it is an option. if your serious, i'll send you what i've found b/c i was considering this for a brake upgrade/ cheaper from coilover solution.

I've never seen a Toyota that had a combined rotor/hub. They're always separate, so that you don't have to replace the entire thing every time you need to replace the discs.
That's more info than I had currently. A link would be cool.
a guy on club4ag gave me these links a while ago. I haven't done anything but look them over. It looks like you use AE86 camber plates, s13 strut/spring/brake assembly, celica outer tie rods, and re-drill the mounting point for the lower control arms. I'm probably missing something else here also, but thats because I haven't tried it.
You'd be better of whittling up some aluminum hubs to replace the iron ones. That will save weight. Aluminum calipers (wilwoods) will also save some unsprung weight.
