AE86 will not change gears

My 86 Corolla GT-S has no back pressure on the clutch peddle and can not change gears. I don't think it is the clutch because I just put a new one in last year. I'm thinking the syncro might have died.

Any thoughts?

Have u checked the fluid? When i first got my 86 it had a clutch fluid leak that i didn't know about, the clutch went soft and the gears seized up in second. I limped it to the closest shop and threw some brake fluid in (any hydraulic fluid should work), fixed it right up...until it leaked out again.

Replace the clutch master cylinder and the slave then bleed it out. That should fix it right.

yah, that'll fix it right for sure. Just put some fluid in if you need to drive it.

no pedal pressure = failed hydraulics

fill and bleed first, then replace failed parts as required.

Had some time to look at it again today. The fluid was low but not out so I topped it up. I tried starting the car again and the same problem continued. So I had another look at the reservoir again and I found that mixed in with the new fluid I added there is now a rust coloured sludge mixed in with it.

So I'm going to flush out the lines and at this point I'm assuming some thing is worn out to cause the appearance of the sludge. So I guess I am probably looking at a new clutch master cylinder or clutch release cylinder.

Thanks for your help guys.
