84 Corolla suggestions
I have a 1984, 4 door sedan with ~187,000 miles on it. It was my first car and I've had it for the past 6 years. I decided that it's not worth getting rid of, so I'm trying to fix the little things. I just replaced the suspension with KYB struts and MOOG springs to fix the overall ride quality. Now I plan to fix the transmission. It's always slipped out of 5th since I've had it so I plan on taking the transmission apart and fixing whatever is broken. Should I fix the transmission that's in it or replace it with a different kind of transmission. Also, I see a lot about engine swaps on this forum. If I decide to change or fix the engine at some point what would be a good one to put in and where could I get a reliable one? The engine now burns a little oil, but that's the only issue with it at the moment. I have another car that I drive more regularly so it's not an issue for the Corolla to out of operation while I work on it. Here's the specs that I can come up with:
1984 4 door sedan
5spd
4A-C engine
AE71 (I think)
Any info/suggestions are much appreciated.
