AE 82-to-AE92 front strut upgrade

My strut cartridges are dead, deader than dead really. AJUSA says repl GR-2's could be here in June. Argh!
I know where an '89 AE92 GTS is at a P-N-P. If I were to get the entire strut assy including rotors, calipers, spring and brake lines (mine are also shot), would this all transfer to my car? I will swap the upper strut mounts, obviously and I can cut the spring height down as needed. Would this really be an upgrade? It appears that I can get cartridges for the '89 GTS a little easier/cheaper if the used ones are bad also.
