Understandable, but rotorys can be oil burners and gas guzzlers. So, you'll get the speed, but will be making frequent stops for fuel

first off, mazda in a toyota, really???

haha jk jk i love mazdas but dude,
a stock 13b, came in the 2nd gen rx7, makes
135hp ish, thats barely twice what your 3tc makes
(3tc makes 65hp), the 13bt, the turbo2 2nd gen
rx7 makes 185hp, ya finally we are seeing some
decent numbers. dont even make an attempt
at putting in a 3rd gen rx7's engine because
its worth both our cars put together and imo
it isnt worth it based on reliability issues,
which now i am finally getting to.

a piston motor will outlive a rotary engine,
hands down. my 3tc engine has 210,000
on the clock and its still troopin on.
if it was rotary and i drove it like i do my
engine, i would be at the end of my 2nd
engines life.

instead of going rotor, just do whats been
proven to be wonderful, toyota's very own
4ag series engines. my favorite is the
4age 20 valve blacktop engine, it makes
163hp and its a piston engine. ya thats
20 less than the 13bt, but its cheaper,
its toyota, its piston, doesnt suffer turbo
lag, and it has a map sensor which
means boosting it is as easy as boosting
a honda, a backwoods r-tard can do it
haha, but for what you described for
what you want, a stock 4age 16v
would be fine and they are readily
available, whatever you decide,
good luck man

Definitely go for the 1.8L. Rotaries are about as reliable as a chocolate teapot.
