4A-GE follow-on from 12-08 postings

Hey Everyone, im new to the whole gts concept and was actually curious about a full swap. and if possible, id really appreciate if i had help with my 3 questions. those being..

1) Are all 4A-GE (20-valve) engines (both the Silver-Top and the Black-Top) only 5-Speed 'FWD' Manual Transmission and not 'RWD'?

and

2) is it Possible to do a full swap on an AE-86 Corolla GT-S with these motors?

and finally..

3) If possible, what is the process and procedure to do so. (If there is a guide available out there, id love if i was provided with a link)

that is all. thank you for your time and feedback. i hope to be an 86 owner real soon.

1. yea, the motors came from the front wheel drive levin, never a rwd car (this also means that if you come across the glorious 6spd manual that came with some of them.. sorry but it wont fit in the ae86.)

1. NO! They came with FWD or 4WD, available with auto, 5-speed or weak and expensively problem-prone FWD 6-speeds. The silver-top was still in production in 1996, as my stock 96 AE111 Carib BZ Touring auto shows. The 20V came in all Corolla variants beginning with the E90 series (well, maybe not the 90-series wagon). All of these were imported used from Japan to New Zealand, where they are relatively plentiful.

Now, does anyone want my 6-speed which is in need of synchros?

well the upper hand you have is having the gt-s rwd ae-86, hopefully you have the manu tranny. the 20v will mount streight up to your t-50 tranny ( 4age tranny) the block off the 20v has the same bolt pattern,
the only set back is small mods and a huge issue with the harness due to it being a front wheel drive to a rwd. im in the middle of this swap but missing some parts, ecu ( was bad)
