3TC running ultra-rich suddenly

so i parked my 3tc wagon today after a nice little cruise. went into the mall for about an hour..came back out and she started up fine..but then going down the parking garage i got a stumble..like it was out of gas. get to the bottom and parked it, and it was puking black smoke out the tailpipe.
popped the hood, pulled the air cleaner and watched the carb, it was litterally DUMPING in the fuel. to both the primary and secondary throttles.
the car wont idle much less drive without dieing.
i dont get what could have all of a sudden changed?
also after running it, and shutting it off, fuel continues to pour into the carb.
im mainly used to EFI so carbs im kinda lost on..
any help would be great.
thanks.
-kyle.

figured it out. float was stuck. just fyi a wd40 straw stuck down the overflow tube to poke at the float will fix it temporarily.
