Canada New 86 owner! (repost from welcome forum)

Hello from Canada!

I jsut posted this in the new/welcome forum but I thought I'd get a bit better help from this forum regarding my issues. Thanks!

I recently bought myself an 86 Corolla SR5 w/Auto. Actually I bought the car tonight!
I must say I love the car so far. Its got 274XXX kms and runs pretty darn good.
It apparently has a GT-S interior thats in decent condition with a few missing bits.

Although a few things concern me. The front seems to sit a bit low, the top of the tires are about half an .5"-1.0" between the top of the tread and the lower part of the fender when look straight on. Also I'm getting a good amount of rust on the outer fenders and spots around the car. The rear strut mounts and hatch are rest free sans ONE small spot on the rear deck outside of the car. Front strut mounts seem good from inside the engine bay except it looks like the hole in the top is an oval shape/elongated circle. In my golf is just a straight up circle, is this cause for concern?

Now keep in mind I did pay only $600 as is for the car and its mainly a winter beater while I work on my mk3 Golf (long story short is a Turbo'd 2.Slow running 15-20 psi once im done).
BUT if the car make's it the winter mechanically fine I might consider making it a budget drifter. XD

Anyways any input is welcome and Ill re post my issues in the Corolla forum.

Lets hope for a long and happy relationship with my Toyota!

Kyle.

Crazy! Another Canadian... With the same name as me... Bizarro!
I just picked up a '85 SR5 last night. Will be in my driveway by end of week (after transfer, appraisal, etc.)
Can't wait to see what you do to your car. Just thought I'd say congrats to a fellow Canadian with the same name haha

Thanks man!
I've had the car for a month and even with its flaws its a good car!

I just put on an electric fuel pump last night as my mechanical/OEM one was pissing oil...annd after being last for a month and putting 8-10 L of oil into it neglecting the leak I fixed that haha.

Wonderful car and lets hope she pulls through the Al berta winter lol
