i need help on my 1084 toyota corolla coupe sr-5 rear wheel drive

so for a bout 2-3 weeks, ive been getting a secent from under the hood of my car that smells like burt plastic or melting rubber, i have searched around the engine to see if i see anything burning or melting, and nothing, so i hope that i was something melting and that i missed. well just tonite,i was out driving and out of nowhere, when i give my car a little push on the gas pedal, my car just turns off,but when i give it alot of gas, its fine. now im not stalling because my car is automatic. so i bring my car home and theres a smell of burnt plastic or something, but this time the smell is the most that i have ever smelled. im hopeing that all i need to do it give it another oil change and buy a new gas filter for it? please help
