AE92 4age Oil pressure sender wire ,no Light ,no pressure on gauge

Hi guys

Im new to this blogging stuff but anyway.. I own a ae92 87 Levin, 4age blue-top
owned the car for about 6months the gauge for the voltmetre has always worked and oil pressure has never worked

I searched up on this last night and didn't find anybody with the same problem
i riped the dash out yesterday found that the gauge and voltmeter are pluged together

looked at my oil pressure sender today earth the wire nothing happend to the gauge. ran a test light through the oil pressure sender wire to ground nothing happend

is there a fuse or anything else that the gauge and sender have in there circut?

i would really like geting my gauge to work

my wire was reasonably shabby but connected.

the wire that was hooked up to the sender i snaped right at the clip and also further up so ill be getting a new wire today if anynody knows where to get a new clip for it in NZ auckland that would be cool to

The wire going to the sending unit should not have 12v. It is a ground (earth) wire. The sending unit varies the resistance to ground and sends the corresponding signal to the gauge. It sounds as if your gauge isn't working or is not getting power.

Hope that helps.

On most vehicles you can ground (to earth) the sending unit wire and the gauge will peg or the light will come on.

just tryed that nothing happend

the wire is ground i know that

if a oil light is the one that looks like an oil can with drips i dont have it

14volts at postive and ground at the gauge
opened the gauge up theres a whole lot of wire coiled around a metal sheet which is burt out no contact. which is heated up to show your reading does. anybody know what kind of wire it its eg fuse wire or what?

i also tryed to just twist is back together nothing happend

or where to buy a whole new cluster thats the same as 87 levin oil pressure / volt meter gauge?

it looks like ill need to buy a new gauge if i buy a new gauge will i need to fit the sender that comes with the gauge or will the stock sender be sufficint?

Not stock gauge (aftermakertet gauge)brand auto gauge

i dont have a light its just a gauge

would the oringal oil sender unit be sweet with a new after market gauge (that comes with its own oil sender unit) just the hassel of riping apart the front of my engine to install the new sender will be a mission

The oil pressure sender is a ground.

The wire going to it should have 12v with the ignition on.

Test the sender by puting an OHM meter on it (to ground) with the engine running. (very hard to get to without scorching your hand)

Test the wire by puting a volt meter or a 12v light bulb on it, with the ignition on.

non-GTSs had lights, the GTSs had gauges. make sure you have the right oil pressure sender (they're different for the light and gauge) one looks like a mushroom and one just looks like a coolant temp sensor or something.

the wire also connects to it differently.
