Lift Supports 86 Corolla Hatchback DLX

I went to the Monroe site and they had 83`s and then jumped to 89`s,thus leaving out my 86 model.AutoWarehouse did show a couple of supports for my 86,but I ordered 2 from NAPA Friday. They were $30.00 each.Auto Warehouse were 26,but probably + shipping.I`m hopeing the NAPA ones work??I`ve had really good luck with NAPA and they`re local, which makes mistakes easier. Thanks for your input tho.I now have AutoWarehouse as a search site for other parts. ~ dale

If the dealer or a body shop can't get it, or something similar, you can try running a bead of black silicone sealer in any gaps. When it dries it looks and works sufficiently well enough. At least it did for me.

I replaced the hatchback lifts on mine some time ago with OEM from the dealer. They were a lot more expensive than the junk from Advance but at least they held up that heavy hatch and the Advance ones didn't. Hope the NAPA ones work out for you.

The NAPA one`s didn`t hold it up either. They are smaller in diameter,as the J.C. Whitney ones were too.I`ll try a dealer as you suggest.Thanks.The NAPA ones weren`t cheap...$30.00 each..........

Hatchback Lift Supports

Accrding to a dealer, the lift supports for my 86 Hatchnack are obsolete...I went back to NAPA and took one of the original Toyota supports...he measured and spent 5 minutes looking up struts on the computer,,,the NAPA computer also said Obsolete, but with his efforts he ordered a set and when I installed them they worked.
The package says NAPA Turbo Lift 819 - 5535 and under the bar code it says 014081

Thanks for forwarding the part number for the lifts. I'll file it away for future reference, if needed.

Makes you wonder how many other parts are condemned as "obsolete and unavailable" when it's only a matter of having someone update the cross-reference database. Most aftermarket stores don't have a "parts pro" anymore--- someone that's able to track something down like your friend at the NAPA store.
