Idle Air Control Valve Carburetor repair for 78 Toyota Corolla 5 Speed, do's n don't.

Hi, do I have to have the entire carburetor rebuilt if a 78 Toyota Corolla wagon 5 speed 2TC engine, has a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve?

I cleaned out the EGR valve, but it also appears that there is no air flow between the carburetor and the EGR valve. The air filter that I replaced was full of carbon like dust particles.

I sprayed carb cleaner around the back of the carburetor and the engine smoothed out nicely while in idle. The car also accelerates fine and passed smog at normal driving speeds, it only failed at idle.

I may also need to clean the internal pathway of the engine that connects to the EGR valve since there probably are burned carbon deposits all along

Suggestions for fixing the Idle Air Control Valve and the cleaning out of burned carbon deposits.
