new guy seeking advice...

Hello everyone. Back in 1998-99 I had a 1985 Corolla GT-S. Man did I love that car and wish I still had it. I was young and after I replace the tranny once and started having problems a second time I sold the car. I now regret ever having sold the car but i have been looking for another one. I found an 87 AE-86 SR-5 with the 4AC motor and also and 81 4dr with I think a 1.8. I have already looked at the 87 and its in good shape. Ran good and new paint with no rust. The thing is I am married and have two kids so the 4dr would probably be better. Also after having the twin cam I don't think I'll ever really be pleased with the SR-5. I am not looking to build a race car, just wanna have a reliable old school corolla again that is fun to drive. What do you guys think? Would the 4dr be worth it? If it is the 1.8 can I get some performance out of it? Or should I just hold out and keep searching for the right GT-S?

Thanks everyone.

i've got ur 85 gt-s lol. Mine spends a lot of times these days in our garage. Great car but no time to enjoy it. Our daughter is 2 and dont feel comfortable putting a car seat in it and scooting around town. also have an 86 sr-5........big difference in power but the sr-5 is one of my daily drivers. So what i can tell u is keep looking for a gt-s, its a shame i'm not closer to u

Thanks. I will keep looking and have to start saving again as I spent the money I had on some new tires for my truck. Hopefully one day I can get the gt-s I want.
