AE86 shops?

hey guys, i'm new to the forums. i was just wondering if there were any shops in toronto that deal with 86's specifically. i'm planning to do a swap and i don't wanna give it to some mechanic that'll do it for a quick buck. i want someone to know what they're doing.

thanks!

What swap are you planning on doing to your 86? is this car your DD? does your model have the 4AG bigport, or do you have the 4AC carbie model?

there are a few options for your 'rolla, all depending on your budget. the 16v bigport, 16v smallport, the 4agze, and the silvertop/ blacktop 20v's.

if you re rolling in the 4AC carbie, any swap will give you a signifigant advantage in power, but you will need to swap a few things over from a donor car. a swap from the 4AC to any 4AG requires the 4AG electric fuel pump and fuel tank, the wiring loom from the 4AG and possibly the ECU (not sure tho), a 4AG radiator and hoses to fit it, a new exhasut manifold, since the 4AG's is on the front side of the engine, not in the back like the carby engine. you will also need the components from the 4AG including the MAF/MAP (depending on the engine), the distributer (or the DIS if you are planting in a 4AGZE), i would also recommend a stronger rear differential, rear disc brakes, stiffer suspensions, and upgrading your rubber, if you plan on stoping and turning to accomodate your newfound power.

as you can see, swaping is no small feat, and will run you a rather large bill in the end. my recommendation to you is to either look for the model you want, if you want a bigport 16v, or either enroll yourself into an automotive program at your local community college. learn the trade, educate yourself, make some mistakes in the process lol, and do all that you want to do yourself, so that YOU can be the tech that knows these cars. also, the price you will save in labor alone will be astounding.

good luck with your 'rolla

ask the dorikaze guys, there's quite a few with 20V and GZE swaps and turbos in the Toronto area... most of them have done it themselves, others have shops do them.
