ae86 gt-s hatch NEED HELP

so I picked up a 5 speed 86 corolla gt-s hatch about two weeks ago. it drove fine and all going back home but after I had parked the car and turned her off, she wouldn't start up. I tried to start her up but nothing happened. no crank, no start. so this basically happened when the car was hot and driven for about 30-40 minutes. I let the car cool down for about 5-10 minutes, and it started right up. do you guys have any idea what it could be? lmk thanks

Sounds to me like a bad ignition coil. As the car heats up the gel in the coil separates and the car won't start. As it cools you regain contact. However this could also be a lot of other problems such as fuel pressure losses, other ignition problems, low compression, or other problems. My first step would be the coil as I have personally dealt with it in 2 toyotas. My old 80 Corolla and a 96 Camry.

Good luck.

if there is no crank, and you have to wait for it to cool off... check the starter, this has happened to me numerous of times in older cars that i have owned... something about the solenoids getting hot and the starter doesnt do anything... so that might be why there is no crank.. i recommend you taking out the starter and getting it tested for free from a autozone or whatever auto parts dealer close to you. kragen oreily maybe? hawaii right? no autozones out there from what i remember...
