Lightbulb YES! Finally found it!

I searched high and low and had nearly given up.....but the fabled single weber (dcoe) sidedraft is available at ramflow usa. I am trying to post a link but not having much luck http://vesquared.com/ramflo/redline.htm#REDLINE4 . Some of you guys may not be interested but between the expense of duals and a desire to be different, I'm pretty excited! I am still trying to work out a way to do an old school 2x1 barrel downdraft too....might not be the best performer, but would be wicked cool in a hotrod themed car.

a Single weber is only marginally better than a 32/36 downdraft but quite a bit more expensive after your factor in the linkage and single sidedraft manifold.

Dual Webers are also really only necessary on cars with big cams and high comp pistons.

You would really find a lot more info on 3tcgarage.com It is catered to these cars specifically.

that may be so....the 32/36 and 38 are great carbs. Ditto many others...but there is a lot to be said for something not cookie cutter. I prefer to think WAAAAAY out of the box. Things like a ford 200 six cylinder with triple carbs in a rolla. I think 4ag swap are awesome, and dual webers are hot, but the bottom line is they have been done. And done. And done. Why a pair of single barrel downdrafts? How bout some s/u carbs? Hell, how bout a (really) long ram intake setup like crysler used in the sixties? Again, before the flamout starts, I am not knocking anyones choices...I think the standard engine swaps and carb swaps are great and I love em....but they are just that....standard. If you dont like old school, then hows bout a mitsu turbo four or a nissan rb26? Whether its just carb or an entire engine, the entire point of my car is to think outside the box and shake things up a bit.....hell I may even put in a geo metro 3 cylinder just for shits & giggles.

I guess your car is your project but there is a line that has to be drawn between thinking outside the box and wasting money for useless parts.

Single sidedrafts have been done my friend had one and there was no improvement from a downdraft weber. SU carbs are simple and good for nothing else plus you would need a custom manifold and linkage. These things all cost money. 4AG engines have been done again and again and again. They are great engines for the 80's but with todays parts availability cannot keep up with much else. The only 4Cyl worth swapping in a Corolla is a 3SGTE. And if you would consider an RB26 then there is no reason to not consider a 1JZ or 2JZ (as you could actually find parts for these engines). And remember Toyotas are reliable. Swapping a Ford or Mitsubishi Turbo motor will throw that right out of the window.

I feel the reason things get done is because they work. Most people who wants easy power get it the way it has been done. If it were worth it to swap SU carbs in a 3T it would have been done by now.

Also remember Toyota made a 2x1 barrel carb already in the 70's and 80's. It was called the 2T-B (B meaning dual downdraft carbs). Those show up for sale every so often.
