Turbo kits for AE101 96 Rolla

I found a few turbo kits for toyota but none really were made specifically for corollas. I was wondering if anyone has any input on the following.

FYI- I'm going to put this on my 4AFE...

I got these off http://www.dezod.com/

GReddy Turbo Upgrade-MR2 SW20 90-96 (TD-06SH)
http://www.dezod.com/products_printe...y.cfm?PID=4864

GReddy Turbo Upgrade-MR2 Turbo 90-96 (TD06L L2 20G)
http://www.dezod.com/products_printe...y.cfm?PID=4863

GReddy Turbo Upgrade-MR2 Turbo 90-96 (with/External Wastegate Type R T67)
http://www.dezod.com/products_printe...y.cfm?PID=4865

GReddy Turbo Kit-MR2 90-96 Turbo (w/ External Wastegate T-R T78)
http://www.dezod.com/products_printe...y.cfm?PID=4866

There were others for Supra but I didn't think they were compatible with my engine, I thought MR's a bit more closer in compatibility.

the 3SGTE is already turbocharged and way stronger than the 4AFE, I'm not sure why you would think they would be compatible.

If anything, a 4AFE would require a custom built kit.

I know Ren69, I was just all excited..I knew better

Jmaz87, what type of turbo do you suggest? Do you know anyone in Northeast, preferably in Southern NY or close, that fabricates kits for corollas?

Trancedcorolla, Should I just give them a call? I tried searching but no kits came up

its not as simple as a "kit" your overcomplicating it. if you can't make your own kit installing and tuning a kit made by someone else is gonna be fun!

i have a friend who has worked on over 20 turocharged vehicles and several tuner projects, he has a few to choose from i can get you a side mount intercooler and turbocharger garret for like 3 or 400 depending on what hasn't already been sold... oh and a blow-off valve too.
He is currently saving up to rebuild his rb26 and so he is selling a bunch of stuff mostly nissan though...
was gonna get a ct26 but probably getting something a little smaller for now.

just go to the wreckers rape a volvo 740 turbo (td04 or also came with garret t3, intercoolers plastic so dont bother) or a dsm (14b/td04, they can also have aluminum side mount intercoolers, some are plastic), get some T and L piping, get a flange, and take it to a decent welder and have them do up a log manifold. then piece together the rest. and your set. its a cheap backyard spec turbo kit.

im pretty sure you can either adapt the current carbie(haven't looked at mine in forever) or maybe custom but i have heard of dual webers, pretty sure there made to fit the same space...dunno much about carbie i thought thats why we import!!!
anyway...
to give you a general list any "kit" i hate using that word!! if your building a custom turbo setup you will need
1.Turbo charger proportional to your motor size let me know if you need examples of impeller sizes.
2.exhaust flange with log manifold(thats what im doing unless you wanna spend like 800$)
3.inter cooler proportional to turbo... side mount should be big enough for a 1.6l
4.oil sending and return lines, sandwich plate w/oil relocation kit (make your filter thread up so you can prime with oil when changing for turbo)
5.oil cooler kit (optional) battery relocation kit (optional but recommended for heat and space issues)
6.coolant lines and T's for splitting lines (I would just use the throttle body coolant lines nobody knows about)
7.BOOST CONTROLLER (if you don't have one your fuckin stupid)
8.Fuel management, bigger fuel pump and the works...(worst thing you can do is run lean!!!)

not too simple huh? and it looks really expensive but if you know what to look for you will save enough on some items to afford nice things like walbro fuel pump, greddy boost controller and maybe a haltech standalone ecu... ahhhh dreams can be made true!!!

I'VE SEEN ALL OF THIS IN COUNTLESS 240'S, Crx's and even PRISM GSI so DO IT!!!!!!!

Prepping dual webers for boost is ALOT harder than boxing in the stock carb, mainly because theres no parts available easily to do the conversion.

Let me add some opinions:
1.Turbo charger proportional to your motor size let me know if you need examples of impeller sizes. - Depends on what you want from the engine, bigger turbine scroll will be lazier on lower end, but will give a higher horsepower on top end. Granted you cant put a locomotive turbo into your corolla, but for example a truck holset on a 1.8 200SX does wonders.

2.exhaust flange with log manifold(thats what im doing unless you wanna spend like 800$)
-Log manifolds are cheap and get the job done. However they do lack in some areas, a ramhorn manifold shouldnt cost you 800 bucks. I made my own and it cost me 50bucks + some argon and tig filler.

3.inter cooler proportional to turbo... side mount should be big enough for a 1.6l - Bigger isnt better, but what you're also looking is flow as well as cooling capacity. Side mounts flow like shit, because they have lots of tight bends. Get a FMIC, they dont cost much on ebay.

4.oil sending and return lines, sandwich plate w/oil relocation kit (make your filter thread up so you can prime with oil when changing for turbo)
-Ummm.... I dont see the point here, my engine primes the filter just nicely on startup... More hoses and joints, the more chances of breakage and leakage.

5.oil cooler kit (optional) battery relocation kit (optional but recommended for heat and space issues) - Save your bucks, if you have to relocate your battery do it.

6.coolant lines and T's for splitting lines (I would just use the throttle body coolant lines nobody knows about) - Get a non water cooled turbo, alot easier. Dont use the throttle body lines, you're just going to cause problems with flow and possibly overheat. You want the turbo to circulate like the engine, cold side gets cool coolant and the hot side pushes out the hot coolant to the radiator. But like I said, get one without water cooling.

7.BOOST CONTROLLER (if you don't have one your fuckin stupid) - Wrong, its a waste of money to get boost controllers. Your wastegate will regulate boost to the predetermined amount the spring gives. I'm running a 0.7bar spring in my wastegate. Stock saab wastegates regulate boost to about 0.5bar, on most of their internal wastegated turbos. You can adjust it. Also keep in mind internally wastegated turbos can have boost creep.

8.Fuel management, bigger fuel pump and the works...(worst thing you can do is run lean!!!)
-Unless you go for high horsepower your stock pump should be fine for the moment. There are ways to make shortcuts, might not be the best idea but they've been done in the past.
Easiest way to push up your fuel pressure is to crush the top of the stock fuel pressure regulator in a vice. Puts more tension on the spring.

Thanks gents for the input.

1)Turbo charger- I want higher end hp, will that volvo turbo cut it?
2)exhaust flange with log manifold - Flashmn for a non-super tuner that doesn't have that much knowledge & equipment, I rather buy. FYI ramhorn go for $600
3)inter cooler proportional to turbo- what about an SRT4's OEM intercooler will it fit? They're usually cheap in $$
4)oil sending and return lines, sandwich plate w/oil relocation kit - don't know much about that but will research
5)oil cooler kit (optional) battery relocation kit (optional but recommended for heat and space issues)- I was thinking to remove the windshield washer reservoir and the radiator overflow & placing battery there....good idea...?
6)coolant lines and T's for splitting lines - Any recommendations for non watercooled turbos and why non water cooled?
7)BOOST CONTROLLER - I hear it's a good idea to have, but I don't really plan to race...regularly
8)Fuel management, bigger fuel pump and the works - I am planning with walbro fuel pump, etc

first the whole point of the controller is to only run boost when you want it. if you live in a college town like i do (UF) cops are a bastard and sometimes i wish my car wasn't dropped with illegal tint and exhaust... sometimes
anyway don't get rid of your RADIATOR ANYTHING especially the reservior..

Flashmn a light car like ours you want to keep the weight as proportional as possible and you can be as cheap as just running 0gauge down the driver (electrical u.s.) side or you can get a box that bolts into the trunk.
i don't have power steering, A.C. but i do have a really nice pioneer/JLaudio/Kicker stereo and thats all i need...
I think i will get a FMI after listening but unless you can get me a turbo for my 4afe i dunno what to do (the offer was for the combo...)
what do you think about megasquirt? setting up is a bitch?

This will give you a partial kit and then you can buy the rest. I wouldn't recommend getting a used turbo, but if you can get it for dirt cheap, go for it I guess.

And remember the #1 rule, no eBay turbos.
