'94 1.8 Corolla

I have a '94 with 216,000 miles.I have had the starter rebiult once and new belts installed about 4,000 miles ago.Oil changed every 3-5000 miles. This car has never had the plugs changed.I have told myself that I'm not going to change them until it starts missing or gets hard to start.I'm just wondering when I do change them, how can I keep from stripping the threads after all this time? Thanks!

Do it there supposed to get changed every 48,000km or every 30,000 miles for regular and double that for platinum plugs.

the plugs will most likely come right out all the heating and cooling cycles should prevent them from seizing in there, try taking them out semi hot, not hot, not cold if they wont come or you get nervous cranking on them put a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of penetrating oil down there again semi-hot wait 10 minutes and try again don't put too much down there because you have to get the oil out of there if you can't get the plugs out, Also they will take a shit load of torque to strip out so dont be scared to pull on the wrench a little

BTW: dont use one of those crappy stamped steel plug wrenches use a proper 5/8" plug socket for them

Why would you wait until it misses? Do you enjoy having crappy gas mileage?

It's called on-time maintenance, you only do it when you need it. Kinda like putting gas in your car ONLY when the car starts to sputter and shake rather than when the gas light comes on, because then you REALLY know you need it right?

Apply even pressure to the spark plugs and make sure the socket is sitting evenly on them. Other than that there isnt too much you can do

I don't know.I guess after over 50 years of owning and driving cars and the experience tuneups[plugs, points, condenser, etc.]and never seeing any significant improvement afterward,I say keep the oil changed and drive them until they start missing or are hard to start.

Thats what I call asking for problems. Its nice to be stranded in the middle of nowhere waiting for a tow-truck and being scared of crazy people assraping you

Ever seen deliverance? my point exactly
