i like my slotted rotors, the pads seem to have more bite than with plain rotors. the slots constantly wipe the pad surface insuring fresh pad to contact the rotor and greatly reduce the chances of getting a glazed pad.
actually you have reduced braking power under normal driving with slotted/cross drilled rotors..... you have a smaller braking surface area....
the purpose of slotted/cross drilled is to help keep the temps down of the rotors under HARD braking conditions (ie, road course type of driving)..... if you aren't experiencing really bad fade with your stock stuff then you aren't running them hard enough to need a performance oriented setup..... nicely cut rotors, properly working calipers, good fluid, and a good set of pads will do you fine

i actually do drive hard enough to warrant slotted rotors i think, im putting on some dual piston calipers soon as a matter of fact off an ST-165 Celica. the brackets are a direct fit to the 7th gen.
Looks like custom and mixed stuff:Looks like I'll probably use a turbo off a volvo 740 and intercooler from dodge srt-4 from junyard and hustle the folks there. There's like 100 junyards close to me.As for internals what exactly should I be looking for or upgrading?....

depends how much power your gonna put on the engine, but with a turbo off a volvo i'm saying nothing large. post up a parts list for analysis when you have all the parts in mind.
as for abs.. I don't like it. If you can break well you can not lock the wheels up, it's all about feel.
As for performance drums, do they even make them? Secondly I am not sure about the ae101 but the ae92 has overly large rear drum brakes considering it's size, for being a smaller car then a sunfire. It's rear drums are WAY WAY larger. More like an impalla's it's wierd. But I like

the 740's came with mitsu tdo4's (14b's) and garret t3's, for your engine you probably better off with a tdo4 unless you are gonna be running high boost.

depends what you consider high boost? Not with my 4afe 1.66 Why not the T3 as to the Tdo4?
t3's a bigger turbo, so itll deliver more power up top, with more spool time (lag) at lower rpms. For instance im going to be running a t3 on my 20V because thats what im going for in my power range. the 4afe has a lower power band, lower rev limit, etc. and the head is made for more low end torque delivery, so it'd benefit from a faster spooling turbo. when im saying high boost, im just refering to not the typical low boost setup (im assuming 6-8ish psi?) if your running stock internals.
Depends on the T3 you're talking about, they do have different A/R numbers.
True but I just went and did brief research looks like the tdo4 might be more useful for my application and might be more common in the yards around here.

Correct assumption.Smaller turbo works for my set up b/c I won't be putting it on track...ever
AFAIK the TD04 is watercooled, T3's are available without watercooling and they are a less of a hassle to install on the car, because you dont have to run the waterlines and fiddle with the cooling system.

How could I determine if they don't need watercooling when I go to yards?Any markings on housing>?
