Question Performance Drums???

Hi, me again. I was thinking going to rear disc conversion but too much $$ and time neither of which I have. So I was just brainstorming. Has anyone ever heard of performance rear drums for 96 corolla? If so, hook me up with site(s). I did research for like 2 hours but only found new aftermarket drums or similar. If it doesn't exist you can just heckle me. Thanks!

The Corolla is a small and light car which doesn't require a lot of effort to stop.

The front brakes do most of the work anyways and since you're car is stock, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Upgraded front pads and a high quality brake fluid should be more than adequate.

I have to agree with the OP on this, I need some better brakes. I was on an empty road doing about 70, tested my brakes; I put them as far as they could go, my brakes are absolute SH**! Weird thing is, my pads and rotors are fine, but I think I might have air in my lines. BTW, how do you know if your Corolla has ABS?

I am pre-gaming for future, turbo etc , was planning to put some brembos on front. Was just looking for something more upgraded for rear since rear disc conversion is just a waste if most of my brake force is in front. Thanks

If you are turbocharging, then a rear disc conversion will definitely benefit you. You will actually have a need for that extra braking power.

Until you do, like I said, upgraded pads and a high quality brake fluid will be more than adequate for your needs.

Brembo makes a full line of brake products, what are you looking to install exactly?

There is no performance drums that are direct bolt on to your car. All the other ones are not worth your "time" nor "money." If neither of which you have why turbo charge?

If you meant braking wise, I was planning to go with drill slotted and probably brembo calipers and brembo pads. Exactly what type/style I have no clue.
I'm just doing research and asking what might sound like idiotic noob questions to the knowledgeable toyotuner.
Everyone's feedback is appreciated ..Hence the AE101 apprentice "title"

just use regular rotors dude. upgrade to steel braided lines, use ate super cool blue racing brake fluid, hawk hps street pads and some good tires that suit your needs.

most the breaking is done with the front brakes anyways, i would suggest a set of cross drilled and or sloted rotors for the front, and a decent set of pads, the cross drilled rotors really help in wet conditions...

blank rotors have the most braking surface and modern pads dont really create gasses.

this is a good point. and if you cant afford a oem rear disk brake conversion, stop looking at brembo calipers? just find a place that does jdm front clips and try to score some ae101 twin pots for the front and the rear setup as well.

It's usually the driving abilities that determine something like this.
