I have a 97 CE 1.6 I bought it used in 2000. it has no front sway bar. my question is did they come with one or not. if it did does anyone know who may sell a swaybar kit besides the high priced dealers. any help is appreciated.
The good part about a sway bar is when you go around a corner and compress the outside suspension. It compresses the inside suspension leveling out the car.
But when you hit a bump on one side and the suspension compresses. The sway bar doesnt know the difference between that and going around a corner. So it compresses the suspension on the other side. That effectively increases your spring rate. Makes you feel the bumps a bit more.
Sway bars can be used to make the car under or oversteering. Having no front sway bar isnt a bad thing...quite far from it actually.
and no a base model corolla never had a front sway bar.
did not know that
did not say it wasn't a bad thing, i've test driven my integra with and without the front sways. going on the straights it was less bumps and dips but cornering showed increased bodyroll
Here's a real answer. Yes they did come with stock sway bar in the front, and no they didn't. Some Corolla's between 93-97 came with one/a nice one at that(Quality Comparable To Cusco) and some didn't. It depends where it was made what model it is yadda yadda yadda. Sway bars give you a more comfortable ride, the thicker the bar the better. The more braces you have in your car the smoother and more predictable ride you are going to have. Especially during corners, without sway bars your car leans all over the place when you turn, this also wears your tires down quicker.Anyway you can find a very nice front sway bar for the 93-97 Corolla On Ebay Or Google at a decent price. Search for (Corolla Whiteline) Whiteline is a company based in Australia and they are the only company that I know of that makes a good front sway bar for the 93-97 Corolla(These Sway Bars Are Awesome)
Whitline.com is their site, but it will cost more to order from them because they are in Australia.
