96 corolla highbeams

The highbeams on my car are freaking out. They ALWAYS work when you pull "to flash" but when you push them to stay on about 10% of the time they stay on. The handle stays forward but the lights don't come on.
Tonight driving around they came on about 80%. I took it to a garage and they ordered the switch thats in the steering column and said that wasn't what was wrong with it, i think they could have checked the switch before ordering it, needless to say I'm done with them. Anyone got an idea, maybe someone could send me a copy of the wiring diagram?

Either that or the bulbs are done.

The bulbs should be fine. The headlights work, unless there's a separate bulb for high beams, I haven't looked. As I said though, the high beams work fine when you pull the handle, you can pull and hold it and the lights stay on. I'm not to fond of the idea of holding the handle when I want high beams . If it could still be the relay, where is it, could someone send me a copy of a wiring diagram.

hmmm.. I had a similar problem before on a different car, on that car it was the actual switch on the lever that was busted; probably the contacts either wore out or rusted.

Thanks I'll check the bulbs but this still doesn't make sense because when I pull and hold the handle the high beams stay on. It's only when I push the handle forward so that they stay on that they don't work.

I haven't done anything to the lights on my car, I'm just a lil lazy, and now they are working just fine. They come on and stay on like they are supposed to.
