[93 Corolla DX]Spedometer + inner roof lights not working.

I just bought a 1993 corolla with 81k miles on it. Car runs fine.

The spedometer/ fuel meter lights dont work neither does the light on the ceiling of the car. Can that be a fuse or is the bulb dead? Also, i know its pretty easy to change fuses. Is it hard to change spedometer light bulbs and the ceiling light bulb?

Also another question...The car has some vibration comming from the front end/engine when i go from 0-30 mph, after that it kinda goes away. Its nothing huge but its there. WHat can this be? Is it supposed to be a bit on the loud side and vibrate a bit?

Thanks!

I can help you with the ceiling light.
First check the fuse, then check the bulb, if neither of those are broken or bad, then with the ceiling light OFF, unscrew it from the car. I had 2 screws.

Then it should fall down, but get caught by the wiring assembly still attached. Unattach only with the light OFF! No taking risks, no matter how small.
Inspect the thing, chekc the terminals on front where you select what light you want on.

If it is green/white, it is corroded. Scrap off the corrosion, use a bit of coca-cola as well that will help. That is like cleaning a battery terminal, the contact points have corrosion so they don't actually touch.

If that does not help, or there was no corrosion, then while the light is connected to the wiring harness and OFF, use a voltmeter thingy, try to find out where the current stops.

If that doesn't help, and you get really mad at it, try to find a replacement one at a u-pull, beware of corrosion though.

You will need to pull the instrument cluster to get at the dash lights. That's not too hard, but nimble hands are a plus when trying to unplug the cluster.

With a stubby phillips, remove the plastic bezel surrounding the dash. Once that's gone, two screws are all that's holding the instrument cluster on. the wiring harness limits the distance you can pull the cluster, and that's where I say nimble hands are a plus.

If you are going back there, you might as well replace all of the lights, or at least the ones that are carbonizing (Bulbs are stained black). to save frustration in repeativly going back there to replace bulbs.
