Unhappy 97 corolla CE fuel efficiency

Hey, i need help with my corolla..... im on a tight budget so i need good cheap ideas....my 97 ce corolla sucks my gas. In the mornings when i turn my car on half a quarter sometimes almost a quarter of a tank gets burnt on startup. Also, a big puff of blueish smoke comes out of the exhaust when i start it. The smoke only happens in the morning. This may sound unbelievable also but on the highway i waste more gas going about 55 to 65 miles per hour then i would if i was going 80 to 100 miles per hour. Im confused. Im a pretty fast driver and i used to take drives after work for fun. No mercy on my car either on those drives. I pushed it to the limit. I dont do that anymore. I think that may have been the problem. I think from pushing my car too hard it sucked more gas for how hard i was pushing my car and caused it to start sucking more fuel.

yes yes, but have you tracked your mpg? whats that looking like? miles drive/gallons used. do that, your fuel guage is only a rough idea of whats in the tank and may be on the fritz.

Thumbs up Hey

Thanks for a reply....ill go check it and get back to you on that. Off the subject ive barely seen corollas modified, that really sux all i ever see are hondas. Specially hatches, dont get me wrong i love the bubble and hatch but what happened to the corollas? lol i know my corolla definately handles 20 times better then a hatch will at 100 miles per hour on the highway haha
