i got nordic icetracks 185/65-14. i have never heard of these kinds of tires but i got them for$140 almost brand new at the junk yard. does anyone know about these? i also got a new fender for my car but it is white and needs painted, not sure how to do that yet...
yah i think he will too, there is a little rust on the new fender but i think we can get rid of it. i dont know how to match it to my car colour though.
^ Find your paint code/color canadian tire will have it or order it. I found my camrys green (Dark Emerald Pearl) in the car paint section in a spray can.
Painting a whole fender with spraypaint will suck. Spraypaint in general sucks.
Take it to some bodyshop and have it painted professionally there, you're not going to regret it even if it costs a bit more than a can of spraypaint.
yah i probably will take it into a body shop...the chris hickson body shop...i wish i had money right now but nope broke lol. but chris is pretty good at painting things, he just painted his go kart the he built and i helped him paint a huge trailer that he also made in his garage lol! so i might take a chance in the garage of 94_rolla_guy
yah for the go kart he used a honda engine 11 horse power, he is a traitor of the toyota loli should take pics of his garage its like a never ending black hole full of tools, gagets, a bunch of off roading buggies, and there is always a new project in it lol...

Not if you get it mixed somewhere specializing in auto paint (have a photo taken of the actual paint on your car with a special machine, the resulting mix will compensate for fading and such). I've done some pretty amazing things with spray cans, just don't get the stuff off the shelf and anything's possible with a bit of extra effort and the right touch, not to mention the pride in something you do yourself, that's always a good feeling.
wow it looks like i have been volunteered !?!?! oh well, The NAPA / C-MAX near us makes spray bombs out of the good dupont auto paint i have fixed my moms green fender and painted half of a red saab 9-3 door with the bombs and both came out excelent

yes its in the contract of being a girls boyfriend...something u signed the first time we decided to be together...you know the small things in the contract like lifting heavy desks as 12am in the morning, re wiring my computer at 112am, taking me for drives every other night, changing my oil, driving my car when i dont feel like it, telling me that im pretty even though i look bad, and of course comming over at 3am in the morning on a school night to get a spider for me:-) so yes it is in the contract to paint my car fender:-)
ugh this reminds me, i really need t oget stock fenders and have them painted. some ebayers selling the corolla fenders also offer a paint service but i dont know if that is a good price or not.
about $200 per fender and its already painted, what do yo uguys think?

Even if you get a proper paint can with car paint the results are poor to satisfactory at most. Its not the paint thats the problem, its the nozzle. Anyone whos painted a car with a proper spray gun with realize it. The best tips are the fan tips, but even with them the spray pattern is too narrow.
Also the pressure is not constant, it will go down the more you use the can. When it gets worse, you're gonna end up shooting droplets.

And again the pride comment, I dont see where people get that. I wouldnt feel any pride showing off a fender that looks like total shit compared to the rest of the car. Maybe I just keep high standards to myself or have a different sense of pride to most corolla people
I have to agree with flashmn- no matter the quality of the paint in the can, a spray can is just not going to look good. My buddies are pretty good at painting cars and it takes some real skill. If you poof can a whole fender it will look real bad.
Yeah I had a set of Nordic Icetracks and they are GREAT on my old car. Great traction in snow for driving straight and corners too. I foolishly used them in summer too b/c of their great traction. Great traction for Winter tires for their price.
I can know why Good Year took over the model name.
Which junk yard did you get the tires so cheap in Toronto? Any idea if they have aluminum rims too? I'm looking for 2000 Toyota Corolla LE aluminum rims.

Most cars built since the late 80's use a base coat / clear coat system. The base coat goes on like primer. Spray bombs mixed at an Auto Body Supply Store can produce professional results with the base coat provided you don't try to use the all of the can down to the last drop, and you keep the contents shook up if it is a metallic. The base coat can go on dry and will look perfect once the clear coat is applied.
The clear coat however, may best be left to a professional with the proper equipment. You can usually buy the mixed spray bombs of base coat for under $25, and an auto body shop I use charged me less that $80 to clear coat two doors and a fender. And yes, the results came out like factory. I will try to post some photos.
And why wouldn't you feel pride if you managed to learn a new skill and can reproduce the factory finish for a fraction of what the body shop shop would charge to do the whole job?
The great thing about body work and painting is you can give it a try, and if you mess up, you can sand it off and try again. Like any skill, if you don't try, you can't learn.
