that should go below the white plastic housing, does the lower part of your shifter hit anything when installed? if not then you can mail those spacers to me.

hehehe. how much longer did they extend the lower part from the stock shifter? I used a Celica shifter in my wagon and almost broke my hand trying to hammer the ball part upwards. Might just get this ebay shifter.
Thanks.

I'd like to know too if someone could tell me how to disassemble the white plastic housing lol. Maybe 'll just pry off that locking washer...I think that is the culprit

remove the locking washer on the front shifter pivot thing, remove the shaft from the side.
then take a punch and a hammer and knock out the little hinge pivot thing on the rear of the shifter.
next, lift the shifter stick out of the base. the little plastic grommets on the old shifter need to be put
on the new shifter. if you got the same one i did, then you will need to grind some of the material from
the new shifter pivot balls to get the plastic grommets to fit (you can just hammer them on, but they will crack).

once you get the plastic grommets to fit, then reassemble in the reverse order.

i am not sure about reusing the lock washer piece, i have a different shifter than most people, cause i swapped some parts from a tercel shifter, and it uses a clip instead of the lock washer. if you have a drill you could make a small hole through the end of the shaft and use a cotter pin with a washer to retain the shaft
