Question No start. No click. Nothin happens.

Hey all,

I've got a 95 1.8L which runs really great.

Except for today. I drove it for a couple miles, turned it off and when I tried to start it again, nothing.

When I turn the key, there's no click from the engine bay. Just... nothingness.

The batterie's good and I've tried a jump start
I don't see any bad fuses in the bay or the interior panel
Cables are all tight

Seems like a fuse blew but I don't know which one to check. Or what the other causes could be.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Andy

If the gauges and everything light up, that rules out the ignition module.

Sounds to me like a bad ground or something along those lines.

Check solenoid and starter.

The battery is good. Lights, radio, AC fan all come on. Have also tried a jump start.

Here are three pictures to show where the wires go. The first and the third are the same. The second is a litle different:

The fat wire is the ground. It may be loose

I'm new to Toyota, but I had this exact problem in my Jetta about a month ago. Be sure to check ALL your fuses. I just checked all the ones I thought it'd be and they were all good. After an hour or so I got tired of trying to figure it out so I decided to check every fuse I could. Turned out to be a burned out fuse, it was the same one that controlled the windshield wipers. I never would've guesses that.

Thanks for all the tips everyone!

I suspect it might be the starter. I recently put a new starter in but I guess it could have gone bad already. Maybe just a sticky solenoid......

After letting the car sit for a week, I tried to start her up again and she started right up. Now, I wonder if the auto parts store will exchange the starter eventhough it's an intermittent issue....

something is loose or needed to cool down or dry out or...? Maybe the ignition switch was not contacting properly in cranking position. Maybe the starter solenoid is bad. Don't assume it is good
