If the gauges and everything light up, that rules out the ignition module.
Sounds to me like a bad ground or something along those lines.
Check solenoid and starter.

I'm new to Toyota, but I had this exact problem in my Jetta about a month ago. Be sure to check ALL your fuses. I just checked all the ones I thought it'd be and they were all good. After an hour or so I got tired of trying to figure it out so I decided to check every fuse I could. Turned out to be a burned out fuse, it was the same one that controlled the windshield wipers. I never would've guesses that.

I suspect it might be the starter. I recently put a new starter in but I guess it could have gone bad already. Maybe just a sticky solenoid......
After letting the car sit for a week, I tried to start her up again and she started right up. Now, I wonder if the auto parts store will exchange the starter eventhough it's an intermittent issue....
something is loose or needed to cool down or dry out or...? Maybe the ignition switch was not contacting properly in cranking position. Maybe the starter solenoid is bad. Don't assume it is good
