my geo corizma in the works.

well heres how it looks now. not totaly finished with all the body work, but its getting there.

the body kit wasnt a direct bolt on like advertised. it took alot of glass work and minipulation to get it on there straight and solid. i had to mold in the rear tail lights after glassing in behind them for mount points. the rear bumper so far has been the biggest pain.

i read in one of the threads here that a body kit doesnt look good unless a car is lowered. i dont know where a person gets that idea. i have scrapped botom a few times already with the car at stock ride hight. i hope no body listens to the guy with that type of advice. i plan to install an air ride conversion kit so that i can adjust the ride hight depending on road conditions. heres a pic of the front bumper and how far it is off the ground. i made use of the hole on the drivers side of the bumper and turned it into a ram air port by glassing a scoop and plumbing it into the stock air box. believe it or not it actually makes quite a differance in the engine performance. its a bit dark out in these pics and i will need to get some pics of it once i pull the bumper so you can see it better. maybe a front shot in day light will show it better. ignore the mud splatter.

i had to take the entire roof down to bare metal. the original paint was done so cheaply that there were hundreads of rust spots under it. lucky for me i diddnt find one bit of bondo under the paint or this would have realy sucked. i used self etching primer on the bare metal and about three coats of sandable primer over that to get it glass smooth. now that i have it to this point and knowing that the roof is in tip top condition im thinking of chopping a power sun roof out of a donor vehicle and welding it in.

heres a pic of the side skirts so far. i need to do some more minipulating on them to get them to kick out and match the rear bumper. these things were pretty bent out of shape when i got them. i had a tough time getting them to fit. right now they are just screwed on with sheet metal screws while i mold them to the car. once they are a perfect fit i will panel bond them on and fill in the screw holes with short strand fiberglass filler.

in this pic you can sort of see the ram air scoop. i used truck bed liner to keep it from chipping when rocks and dirt get sucked up into it. im just waiting to come across that one un lucky bird that just wasnt fast enough. it almost kills the engine when i plug it with my hand. theres no telling how much vacuume there is at 75mph. ive already cleaned enough grass hoppers out of the air box for a few fishing trips. if youre woundering why the corner marker lens is missing its because i tried seperating it without any luck. its now in a dozen pieces. i am ordering up two new ones and 100 ultra brite yeild sign yellow leds to convert them into turn signals. i am going to install 45 in each side by drilling holes in the back side of the housing and gluing them in with contact cement after about 90 solder joints and 15 or so resistors per side. im pretty sure the blinkers will be plenty visable after that. i just couldnt bring myself to cut in the stock fugly turn signals. i like my front bumper too much to do it.

i picked up a 93 corolla for 200 and have been swapping parts around to get the interior up to par. the engine is in good running condition but the car isnt. the previous owner was one of those people who drives their cars into the ground and then buys a new one. the rear brakes have been dissabled because they decided it was cheaper than new wheel cylanders. they left the hood unlatched and took it down the highway so now its got one hell of a nice cooling system for the engine. but the engine is in tip top condition so im thinking it will be a good donor engine. im pulling the interior out and ordering up some material to re upholster them. this way i can drive the car until i have the interior finished and then just swap it in one day. depending on how high quality the framing is under the seat foam, i may add to it with some more tubing and shape some foam to turn them into racing buckets. i may even turn the other two into racing buckets and mount them in the back. who knows. it would be pretty sick to glass the center console all the way into the sub inclosure in the trunk though. this would also alow the sound to pump into the cab alot better. and give my rear passengers cup holders.
